About Us

Palmer Preschool is a research based child development program based on the developmental works of John Dewey, Leve Vygotsky, Jean Piaget and Lawrence Kohlberg. Our program is housed at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church and serves as an outreach program to church members and the Houston community at large.

Our program is built on our belief that children learn valuable life lessons, as well as academic skills, through play. on any given day at Palmer Preschool, you might find children pouring and catching with a variety of substances, reading books, creating masterpieces in the "messy center", counting blocks, or riding tricycles in our "bouncy room". This is just the way things are at Palmer Preschool. Moreover, the children's spiritual growth is overseen by Palmer's children's minister, who engages the children in activities that allow them to find comfort in their relationship with God through music, art and prayer.

Palmer Preschool emphasizes the development of the parent-child relationship and fosters a strong professional growth culture where parents and teachers learn every bit as much as children. It is a shared community where, truly, "the village raises the child".
